Tsipi Keller:


Tsipi Keller was born in Prague and grew up in Israel. After a two-year stint in Paris, she left for New York City in 1974 and settled in the East Village, the locale of most of her stories and novels. Keller is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Translation Fellowship, of CAPS and NYFA awards in fiction, and is the author of the novels Jackpot (2004), and Retelling (2006), both published by Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York). Most recently, her short fiction appeared in the anthology Wreckage of Reason: Contemporary XXperimental Prose by Women Writers, as well as in various journals. Forthcoming this fall: Poets on the Edge – Contemporary Hebrew Poetry, an anthology she compiled and translated; The Hymns of Job & Other Poems, a collection of translated poems by Hebrew poet Maya Bejerano. Tsipi Keller now divides her time between NYC and the ocean in West Palm Beach, Florida.


Tsipi Keller wurde in Prag geboren und wuchs in Israel auf. Nach einem zweijährigen Aufenthalt in Paris brach sie 1974 nach New York auf und zog nach East Village, dem Schauplatz der meisten ihrer Erzählungen und Romane. Sie hat für ihre Romane und Übersetzungen u. a. das staatliche Übersetzerstipendium NEA erhalten, sowie die CAPS- und NYFA-Stipendien für Belletristik des Staates New York. Zu ihren Romanen zählen Jackpot (2004) und Retelling (2006), beide erschienen bei Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York). Zuletzt wurden ihre Kurzgeschichten in der Anthologie Wreckage of Reason: Contemporary Xxperimental Prose by Women Writers und in verschiedenen Zeitschriften publiziert. Im Herbst 2008 erscheinen die von ihr zusammengestellte und ins Amerikanische übersetzte Anthologie Poets on the Edge – Contemporary Hebrew Poetry, und eine Auswahl übersetzter Gedichte der hebräischen Dichterin Maya Bejerano, The Hymns of Job & Other Poems. Tsipi Keller lebt abwechselnd in New York und West Palm Beach, Florida.
